Stuart 10V
The Stuart 10V is my pride and joy. Made it myself you know! I bought a set of castings and a small lathe and about a year later voila ! here it is. It was a labour of love, I thought it would take a week of evenings to complete; you know, turn the flywheel and the piston, drill a few holes, file a few pieces of metal, and it'll be done. In a word, no. If you have not done turning before you have to teach yourself all sorts of skills like sharpening lathe tools, measuring accurately, ensuring things line up... I could go on. Suffice to say I took my time to learn all the new skills needed to make this and the result is, in my eyes at least, superb. It turns over nice and smoothly with no notchy bits and runs on compressed air a treat. I can get it to run on less than 10psi. There are a few little bits I'm not 100% happy with but for a first attempt I think it's good. Now I'm plucking up the courage to build the Stuart Mill engine. Next chapter I think, but if it ever happens I'll describe it here.
