Yet another bargain off ebay, an sel 1550, without pistons?? I must be mad! Or maybe I just enjoy a challenge. In any case I reckoned the Sel pistons would not be too difficult to make using my newly acquired lathe skills. Sure enough the photos below show the one and a half pistons I've made so far. They are difficult to distinguish from the originals, but then Iwould say that wouldn't I. The engine does of course require further attention to the crankshaft as I'm sure the one shown is non-standard, well all the rest I've seen don't look like that. See the boiler and the solder overflow from the end caps, I have no idea what has happened there but it all needs looking at and the excess solder removing... No problem... Ahem! Still when its done this should be a nice engine. May move this to the restorations section when I start properly but for the moment it is in the queue, which is rapidly getting longer. (I need therapy for this)
