Mamod Mobile Engines
Here are the Mamod mobile steamers in my collection. Some are in a better state than others but none of them are what you might call 'mint' but neither are any really poor. I don't have a bottomless pit of money to spend on building the collection so over the years I have either restored poor engines (e.g. the steam roller) or picked up what I thought was a bargain but average model. If I have to pick a favourite then it would probably be the TE1A since not only was it my first mobile model but it also typifies the Mamod brand and I believe has the highest production figures. Click on the images to get more detail on each.

This TE1A is the one shown on the home page pulling the log wagon.
Whilst the Steam Roller was not quite a basket case it was in very poor condition
The Roadster was another restoration with badly flaking paintwork and rusty bonnet. The whole thing was stripped and resprayed and nice shiny new chrome added.

The Steam Wagon was the bargain of the century (so far) costing £37 off ebay. It has the sight glass missing but the rest is excellent condition.
This fire engine is really nice. I bought it from Simon at Steam4fun via ebay a couple of years ago and when I went to collect it he was kind enough to show me around his workshop and his ride-on Foden Steam wagon. Amazing !
The Limousine is a recent addition to the collection although it has considerable rust on the running boards so I'm not sure whether to respray as the colour match will be difficult. It means I would have to spray the lot, not just the rusty bits.

This is the older steam roller which was the subject of a restoration. The Restoration section shows exactly what was done to bring it to this superb condition.
