Bowman 234 Live Steam Engine
This is my first railway type steam engine, a O gauge Bowman 234. The respray job is not bad but, like many restorers, we always think we can do better. The original colour was green but all the ones I have seen have had staining from the burner underneath. No doubt that was the motivation for restoring this one. But now I'm left with a dilemma; I really really would like to run it on live steam but I am equally sure that if I do the paint will burn off meaning I have to strip it down and respray it. Think I better leave it as a static display model for the moment, maybe later. I actually bought a piece of O gauge rail to display it on but discovered that the rail depth was insufficient for the size of the wheel flange, which just goes to demonstrate my lack of knowledge of these things. |
